University of Buenos Aires

The Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires, founded 102 years ago, is the oldest agricultural higher education institution in Argentina. It offers a wide range of academic options as well as a large number of services to the community, providing solutions to the issues posed by Modern Agriculture.

The Faculty of Agronomy, named after the traditional Agronomy course studies, also allows students beginning higher education studies to choose the following options: 4 Bachelor degrees and 2 Technical degrees. Some of them are also taught jointly with other schools of the University of Buenos Aires, such as the Faculty of Architecture, Economic Sciences, Veterinary, etc.

Through its 'Ing. Agr. Alberto Soriano' Postgraduate School, the Faculty of Agronomy offers a great variety of graduate courses, masters degree programs and majors in reply to the professionals' and researchers' training needs. In addition to the large number of undergraduate and graduate courses offered, there also exist languages and distant education centers.

Its teaching staff's academic excellence is reflected in the professionals' level, and the type of studies they have completed. Most of them work on a full-time basis and have completed graduate courses. The fruits of their work, both in teaching and research, have been appraised at an international level. This fact is evidenced in the acknowledgement of the Agronomy Course of Studies taught at the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires granted by the extended MERCOSUR education ministers.

Since the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires became part of the farming sector both at a local and at an international level, it has played a very active role in linking science, technology, production, and business activity with the purpose of achieving excellence as a vital contribution to society as a whole. This is the way this institution works towards promoting regional development by adopting a government-company-university approach. In this sense, a vast number of technology transfer and exchange agreements, which are currently in force, have been signed with both national and foreign companies and institutions.
