St. George's University of London Medical School at the University of Nicosia


  • St. George’s, University of London and the University of Nicosia jointly operate the premiere medical school in Cyprus, and one of the best medical schools in the region
  • St. George’s, University of London (SGUL) is the 3rd oldest medical school in the UK and is well-known for its innovative problem-based approach to medical education.  SGUL and the University of Nicosia partnered in 2010 to build the first medical school in Cyprus, the St. George’s, University of London Medical School at the University of Nicosia
  • Students attending the program earn a British medical degree (MBBS) directly from SGUL which is fully recognized by the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK
  • The medical school has clinical relationships with public and private hospitals in Cyprus, the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer in Israel (the premier hospital in the region), and Swedish Covenant hospital in Chicago
  • The medical school is the centerpiece of a Center of Excellence at the University of Nicosia in Health Sciences that includes nursing, pre-medical and human biology
  • The medical school joined the Human Brain Project in 2014 – one of the premier research initiatives in the European Union, with €1 billion of funding. The HBP is focused on understanding the structure and functions of the human brain, and the University of Nicosia Medical School's specific research work will be in partnership with the University of Maastricht, focused on non- invasive encephalography.

  • UNIC Online in an innovative unit  providing distance, online and hybrid education organization with a focus on academic partnerships
  • It offers undergraduate and graduate programs online on a worldwide basis, both for the University of Nicosia and on the behalf of partner institutions
  • It has particular strengths in Greece and Africa

Global Training

  • Global Training, a professional training unit, is the premier accountancy training organization in the Mediterranean.
  • Global Training is by far the leading trainer of accountants in Cyprus & Greece and an important provider across Eastern Europe and Russia, training about 2,000 students annually
  • Global Training is primarily focused on the UK accountancy qualifications – ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and ACA (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) – which are the most important global accountancy qualifications
  • Global Training students have achieved extraordinary results in their examinations, taking two of the top six scores worldwide in 2009, three of the top six scores worldwide in 2010 and one of the top six scores worldwide in 2011
  • Global Training has recently launched well-received ‘live online’ courses that combine the convenience of distance education with the immediacy of a live classroom.

University of Nicosia Global Semesters

University of Nicosia Global Semesters (UNGS) is the education abroad unit of the University, focused on short-term (less than 1 year) international academic programs based throughout the world.
