Summer in the Mediterranean: Music

Curriculum and Faculty

The curriculum consists of host institution courses open to local students. Courses are taught by host institution faculty. Students may take up to three courses (for a total of 6 credit hours) by selecting 1-2 courses from each category of theory (Dance in Cultural Contexts and/or World Music Regional Studies I) and practical courses (Traditional Greek Dance I and/or Greek Popular Music). Students may optionally take a course in Greek Language and Culture. Attendance in musical and dance events during the summer is strongly encouraged.

Teaching Methods
  • All courses on the Summer in Mediterranean: Music program are University of Nicosia courses taught by University of Nicosia faculty using University of Nicosia syllabi on the University of Nicosia campus. The University of Nicosia issues the transcript for this program.
  • Courses are taught on an intensive schedule and meet for approximately 7 hours per week for the five weeks that students are in Cyprus for a total of 42 hours of classroom contact hours.
  • While the travel portion is a required part of this program and linked to the curriculum, it is not-for-credit.
