Summer in Belize: Anthropology

Program Description

The Summer in Belize: Anthropology program is an introduction to the issues, challenges and opportunities raised by the economic development of a developing and vastly multi-cultural nation. Belize is a small, developing country grappling with the natural and cultural impacts of economic development.

A tapestry of cultures (Creole, Garifuna, Maya, Mestizo, Mennonite, Chinese and North Americans, among others) makes it an ideal location to study human interactions. The goal of this program is to gain an understanding of the interactions of various cultures and the issues involved in sustainable development, and improve intercultural competencies.
