“I just wanted to say thank you for everything! That was the experience of a lifetime and I'm so grateful for everything I was able to do and see. The people I met while in Cyprus will be friends for life. Cyprus is seriously the most underrated place and I'm making it my personal duty to tell everyone how incredible it really is!!!
Thanks again and good luck!
Jennifer”

“Dear Angelo,
I just wanted to write you briefly and let you know how much you contributed to the absolutely amazing experience I had here in Cyprus. You were such a great, interesting instructor and GLS leader and I loved being able to take your courses, which were always so interesting and fun! Thank you so much for everything this summer and good luck with the new students next fall!

Brittany D., University of Florida (Semester in Europe, Spring 2006)
"I've returned from Cyprus only two days ago, and have had a little bit of time to reflect on the trip. As I tell stories to everyone at home about the last four months, I realize how incredibly packed the trip was with learning experiences. I had a great time, and when people ask me which city/country I like best I honestly can't even begin to decide because each place is so unique. I made some really amazing friends, American and otherwise, and overall the trip was the best experience of my life so far. It has sparked my interest in going abroad, and I am already looking online for other opportunities. I just wanted to thank you and let you know what an outstanding experience I had. I hope all is well with you, and good luck in all your future ventures.

"Hi Sandi!
I just wanted to give you a quick note, since it has been a while since we have been in touch.
The program is absolutely fantastic! Everyone is so nice and welcoming, and they just love learning from us, as we do from them. Orientation week went really well, and the group was so shocked and delighted at how accommodating everyone was. The orientation week was a good amount of time for us to get adjusted and used to the new environment.
Now that we are more settled in, I feel like I have lived in Nicosia for months. I know the street names, the cool bars and clubs, and even some Cypriots. Our apartments have been great too. I ended up with the larger group in the on-campus apartments, and I wouldn't have it any other way. All the students are very nice, and diverse.
All of our classes are going really well too. I was going to drop one class, but then I decided to stick it out. I think I might as well learn and take the classes, instead of sitting in the apartment watching Greek television. My favorite class is Art History, since I will actually be able to see what we are learning about. Angelo is absolutely amazing. Besides being very nice and fun, she is really a great teacher, and knows so much about what we are learning.
Again, thank you so much for all of your help in being admitted to this program!
Sincerely,
Claudia”
Palmer S., Furman University (Semester in Europe, Spring 2006)
"I recommend this trip to independent thinkers-those who are trying to find their own life-path through unconventional means. It has been, for me, an exercise in self-sufficiency, as well as a new viewpoint on world culture and politics that a regular semester of college within the United States would not have provided. This is not a trip for those who shy from challenges and personal growth, but for those hoping to forge their own dynamic life experience; this can be a great adventure.

Kathryn R., Northern Arizona University (Semester in Europe, Spring 2006)
"I wanted to let you know that I enjoyed the trip, and was amazed at the amount of planning that went into our travels. I don't think that the program asked anything unreasonable of the students, and I think that GLS did an outstanding job of communicating with us about what we should expect out of our program travels.
Even before this trip, I knew that world travel would be a life-changing experience. Now that I've done it, I can't articulate the effect it's had on me and the perspective it has pro-vided. I really, really admire you for recognizing how important travel is for people my age and for making it your life's work to make such travel within our grasp. There is no program in the world like GLS. Thank you for helping create it.
All the best,
Kathryn"
Osmat S., American University of Beirut (Semester in Europe, Spring 2006)
“Angelo & Alexia: A golden team! I will always remember you whenever I: 1) check into a hotel, 2) eat Nutella or 3) see a big beautiful smile. This is a wonderful program but you made it tons better.
Dr. Polemitis: You are one of a kind. Thanks for providing so much help whenever we asked for something. I am really out of words. You were more than a program director, you were and will always be my close friend. Going back home will not be easy but I can always return to visit you in my 2nd home: Cyprus.

Tina B., University of Washington (Semester in Europe, Spring 2006)
”For me, I’ve always loved history. It has always interested me, so I knew that traveling to Europe, Asia, Africa, would be the most amazing opportunity. But I could not find a program that would suit me. [When] I stumbled upon the GLS site I couldn’t believe it. Here is a program where I get to live in a foreign country, as well as travel to over ten other countries. My excitement could literally be heard through my house when I ran screaming to my parents about the amazing program. As much as a cliché that this statement is, it is a dream come true!
For any person who wants a combination of programs with a nice coverage of academic studies, travel opportunities, as well as foreign residency, this program is perfect.

Prasanti G., Old Dominion University (Semester in Europe, Spring 2006)
“In a week’s time I stood next to the marble columns of the Parthenon, gazed at Michelangelo’s masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel and was enthralled by the colour and culture of Gaudi’s Barcelona. During Global Semester’s trips you are swept up in a whirlwind tour of Europe; and it is only when you return to Cyprus that you realise you’ve not only seen the world, you’ve also learned about your place in it.

“Imagine waking up to the sun rising over the Acropolis or taking the gondola down the Venice waterways... Global Learning Semesters has made this a reality for me. Having had a keen interest in European culture for years, it was my first time to experience it hands on – and it has been an experience of a lifetime. With visits to over 12 countries you get to absorb a part of distinct European traditions. Not only do you get to travel while you go to school, you also get to witness some of the things you learn in class come to life.

Steve M., Illinois Institute of Technology (Summer in Cyprus, Summer 2005)
“I owe you all at Global Learning Semesters a great deal of gratitude and respect. Every speech I have given in the last 6 months, I always refer to my experiences with you all as a monumental discovery in my life. I speak about hope to communities that have none, and I tell them that if I grew up in the hood (the inner city of Chicago) and made it all the way to the middle of the world, then they could move mountains.
Thank you for giving me a story to tell.
Steve”
