The itinerary on this program includes in-class and co-curricular trips to several locations in Mexico as well as site visits to Mexican national and multinational companies operating out of Guadalajara. Our exact program itinerary will change from semester to semester based on course teaching objectives and special events.

Excursion 1: Mexico City (including National Anthropology Museum, Chapultepec Palace, Teotihuacan Pyramids and the colonial downtown) Duration: 2-3 days

Mexico City
Mexico City, the third largest city in the world after Tokyo and Sao Paulo, is the lively and bustling capital of Mexico. Its more than 19 million inhabitants enjoy of its many beautiful historical sites such as the Teotihuacan ruins, the Templo Mayor, the Basilica de la Virgen de Guadalupe, Chapultepec Palace, the National Anthropology Museum, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes, to name a few.
Guanajuato
A former colonial mining center, Guanajuato is a charming and culturally-active city, home to the University of Guanajuato and the annual Festival Cervantino with excellent music, dance, and theater presentations by renowned groups from all over the world.
San Miguel de Allende
Only an hour away from Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allendea's quaint cobblestone streets and plazas have become a favorite vacationing and weekend spot for Mexicans and Americans alike. Blessed with wonderful weather and home to dozens of artists, laidback San Miguel is a perfect city to slow down, kick back and relax.
Tequila
The small city of Tequila is home to Mexico's national beverage. Most tequila found today is produced in this city and here visitors can find everything related to the drink - from the Museum of Tequila to informative tours of tequila distillers and producers like José Cuervo.
Tlaquepaque
Tlaquepaque is a quaint, picturesque town at the outskirts of Guadalajara and home to a large artisan and artist community. The city is particularly know for its work in blown glass and pottery and its streets and plazas are lined with restaurants, cafes, stores selling Mexican handcrafts, jewelry, and souvenirs, and top-notch art galleries.
