Semester in Europe: Custom
Curriculum and Faculty
Overview Taken as a whole, the Semester in Europe: Custom curriculum allows students to compare and
contrast the cultural and social structures in the European Union.
Students are required to take a course focused on European Culture and can then customize their course curriculum by choosing 3-4 courses from hundreds offered each Spring semester at our host institution, Intercollege.
All applicants should aim to receive course pre-approval from their home institution.

Teaching Methods
- All courses on the Semester in Europe program are University of Nicosia courses taught by University of Nicosia faculty using University of Nicosia syllabi on the University of Nicosia campus. The University of Nicosia issues the transcript for this program.
- Courses are taught on an intensive schedule and meet for approximately 5 hours per week for the eight weeks that students are in Cyprus for a total of 42 hours of classroom contact hours.
- Students complement their in-class instruction with over 20 days of on-the-ground travel to key cultural institutions in 10 EU countries (e.g. the Louvre, Van Gogh Museum, etc.). We endeavor to have relevant experts leading these sessions and, additionally, provide guides for general city and sightseeing tours.
- While the travel portion is a required part of this program and linked to the curriculum, it is not-for-credit.
