Phones and E-mail
Phone Service
Global Learning Semesters will provide all students with local (GSM) cell-phones while they are enrolled in our programs. These phones will work within your host country and, in some cases, beyond your host country if you are traveling during the program.
The phones are provided for safety purposes, but can also be used to make and receive personal calls. Students will be responsible for all telephone charges on these phones and for returning the handset at the end of the semester. If you have friends and family in the USA that you expect will call you often, they should look into finding a good international rate plan from their long-distance carrier in the US. This will allow them to call you at a moderate cost.
E-mail
We will provide you with a lifetime e-mail forwarding account to transfer messages to an email account of your choosing. Your e-mail address will be FirstinitialLastname**@GlobalSemesters.com (the asterisks represent the year that you are studying abroad). So if your name is Tom Harvey and you are studying abroad in the Spring semes-ter 2008, your e-mail address will be tharvey08@GlobalSemesters.com.
This e-mail account will be the official e-mail account we send messages to during the program and will allow you to maintain contact with your classmates after the program. We will link this forwarding address to whatever email account we have on file for your at the time of enrollment, so please keep us updated if you change e-mail accounts.
Make sure you know how to access your US-based e-mail accounts while abroad.
